Funding & Independence Policy

Our mission is to provide fair, nonpartisan educational resources that help Minnesota voters learn about state and local elections and the candidates running in them.

To protect the integrity of this mission, we are committed to the following principles:

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently and are never influenced by donations, financial support, political considerations, or other outside interests.

Donors and other financial supporters do not influence:

● Which candidates are invited to participate.

● The questions asked of candidates.

● The editing or presentation of candidate videos.

● The order or placement of videos or candidate information.

● Any editorial policies or decisions.

Financial support does not create any relationship that influences our editorial independence or our commitment to treating candidates fairly and equally.

Financial contributions do not provide candidates or supporters with additional access, participation opportunities, or preferential treatment.

Candidate Participation

All candidates who have officially filed for the offices we cover are invited to participate. Participation is voluntary.

Choosing to support this organization financially does not affect a candidate's opportunity to participate or how their content is presented.

Financial Support

Who’s Running MN is primarily supported through voluntary financial contributions.

Financial support helps us create, publish, and improve educational resources for Minnesota voters.

Contributions are voluntary and are never required to access our content.

Recognition of Supporters

We are grateful to everyone who chooses to financially support our work.

Supporters may choose whether to be publicly recognized on our website or remain anonymous.

Recognition is provided solely as a thank-you and does not imply endorsement or influence over our work.

Transparency

We believe trust is earned through openness, fairness, and consistency.

Our commitment is to serve Minnesota voters by providing fair, nonpartisan educational resources while maintaining editorial independence from candidates, political parties, donors, and other outside interests.

Changes to This Policy

Who's Running MN may update this Funding & Independence Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our organization, funding practices, or applicable laws.

When this document is revised, the "Last Updated" date will be changed. If the revisions are substantive, the "Effective Date" may also be updated to reflect when the revised version takes effect.
